Support Officer
Location: Across the North East with time in our main office in Chester le Street and working from home.
Contract: From 0.5 to 1 FTE - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

At If U Care Share Foundation, we believe that lived experiences are powerful tools for change. We’re looking for inspiring Support Officers to provide timely and appropriate one to one support to those within our support service. From first appointments after referral through to inquest and stepping down of our support safely, no two days are the same and you will manage a caseload of both prevention and postvention referrals. Support Officers ensure our support meets our standards and is in line with agreed expectations of our commissioners.
What You’ll Do:
🔹To provide appropriate ongoing support as directed, to those bereaved by suicide or to those at risk. This will be via face to face, online and telephone appointments and does require access to a vehicle for travel.
🔹To identify and address social, practical and emotional needs relating to those affected by suicide
🔹To manage crisis/emergency interventions to prevent suicide in person and over the phone
🔹 Ensure timely and proactive recording of information on our systems and other administrative tasks associated with support in line with with GDPR
🔹 Engage and liaise with local support services, including mental health teams, crisis teams, GP surgeries, adult or children social care teams
🔹Empower supported people to get involved in wider activities with the charity
What We’re Looking For:
✅ People with lived experiences of suicide: personal experience or supporting a loved one or professional experiences of suicide.
✅ A demonstrable knowledge and understanding around suicide bereavement and suicide prevention support needs
✅ Strong information technology skills and the need to be trustworthy with data and highly sensitive personal information
✅ Experience of dealing with dynamic situations requiring multi-tasking
✅ An ability to work independently under difficult circumstances
✅ Excellent administration skills
✅ Recognition of the importance of individual wellbeing and an ability to manage your own wellbeing
✅ A strong desire to help and support our work is essential as well as an ability to promote high standards that match the values of IUCSF

Support Coordinator

At If U Care Share Foundation, we believe that lived experiences are powerful tools for change. We’re looking for inspiring Support Co-ordinators to act as our first point of contact for anyone reaching out to the charity. From taking new referrals, offering support calls and arranging appointments, no two days are the same and Support Co-ordinators are an essential element of our support offer.
What You’ll Do:
🔹 Contact new referrals (individuals bereaved or at risk of suicide) to offer and arrange support with the service via telephone and email
🔹 Offer practical and emotional support to individuals or supported persons who call into the office struggling or are at risk of suicide
🔹Escalate Cause for Concern and or Safeguarding protocol if concerned for the safety or the wellbeing of supported persons
🔹 Carry out any administration and coordination of follow up tasks in relation to supported persons (Trauma Therapy, Counselling and alternative therapies etc.) and therapists diaries
🔹 Engage with local support services, including mental health teams, crisis teams, GP surgeries, adult or children social care teams etc. and making referrals where required/appropriate
🔹 Attend meetings and training as advised
What We’re Looking For:
✅ People with lived experiences of suicide, personal experience or supporting a loved one).
✅ Demonstrable knowledge and understanding around suicide bereavement and suicide prevention support needs
✅ Excellent information technology skills and the need to be trustworthy with data and personal information
✅ Emotional robustness
✅ Excellent administration skills
✅ Strong skills in conversation over the telephone or willingness to learn
✅ A strong desire to help and support our work is essential as well as an ability to promote high standards that match the values of IUCSF
✅ Critical thinking skills while applying a calm and methodical approach
